Breathing Better

My little princess has had snot for a week that turned into stinky ear infections that turned into coughing continuously for hours. We are currently doing breathing treatments. I mean how cute can you be with a mask strapped to your face and hair sticking up? I think she is still pretty cute. And the most important part...she is better.

Funny January Photos

Someone loves their dog. Some dog loves their life. I love my kids have a dog to go to sleep with and love on.

A house is not a home until it has a dog.

I found this picture on my camera. Daughter hates for her brother to take her picture. Obviously he did it anyway.
Crazy hair night for AWANA

Son's hair in the morning is something else. Since getting an alarm clock for Christmas, he now gets up and dresses himself before I ever see him! Such a nice change from me waking him up and dressing him! This is him running from me so I don't get a picture of his hair.
For about 2 months, daughter has said I am getting my ears pierced when I turn 5. So the day before her birthday party she begged me to take her. I tried to talk her out of it. She said it would only hurt for a minute and she wanted to. So I let her have her way. This is her so excited to be getting her ears pierced. I turned my back to tell son not to pull something off the wall as the lady was about to pierce...and daughter had bolted. She was screaming hysterically. No ears were touched that day despite how happy she looks here in this picture.
Camo day at school can be hard for little girls but I think this little girl rocked her outfit!

Zhu and Wal-Mart BOO!

My daughter has now decided she wants the zhu zhu hamsters. Her birthday is next Sunday and she keeps telling me, "Mommy I am going to be a whole hand!" So I am in full birthday party planning mode. I was able to find the hamsters but I don't want to pay double for the accessories by having to buy online. I have now become a zhu zhu stalker. I stalk Wal-Mart and Toys R Us. I check it so regular that I noticed today some Wal-Mart stores were showing the main starter house in stock. So I call first because I loath Wal-Mart and know better to trust the Internet. First store I call is 25 minutes from me. I explain the operator my search and ask for toys to confirm it is there...10 minutes later I am still on hold. Click. Dial tone. I call again. I am then transferred to a man in electronics.
Electronic Man - I don't work in toys. Me- I understand and give him my history of calling and information I am after... Electronic Man - Mam do you know the weather situation today? Me- Yes sir it is cold. Electronic Man- people called in for work Me- Ok, so can you send me back to the operator and see if she can help me? Electronic Man - No. I mean if it says that is in, me and some people here will probably get it. Hold on. Me - Holding...Holding... Electronic Man - Hey lady, I found a stock person. She said some stuff came in but with the weather we won't go through it for a couple of days. And when she does I will probably buy it. But I can't confirm or deny it is in stock. Me - Good bye.

Next Wal-mart phone call of another store 25 minutes in the other direction.
Operator - Wal-Mart
Me- yes I am showing you have the Zhu zhu playhouse online in stock. I want to make sure before I drive there that in fact you do have it on the shelf.
Operator -No we don't have that crap.
Me - Oh
Operator - We had a that at Christmas but we only got like 3.
Me- I understand but it is showing online instock today. Can I speak to toys and just check?
Operator - We don't even have anybody in that department today and the Internet lies.
Me- Thank you.

I am sorry but is this the best quality service Wal-Mart has to offer? First of all I think it should be illegal to post that you have stuff in stock and you don't! I also think it should be illegal for their employees to buy hot items and probably sell them on eBay for 400 dollars! The item I am calling about is 20 bucks. I mean gee wiz!!!

I was typing this post when daughter's PAPA called and said, "Hey I got the zhu zhu fun house!" So thank you God for the Wal-Mart crazies and a Papa who will make her dreams come true.

Not Me Monday

I did not let my children stay up late all Christmas break and now am wondering how to get them back on schedule. I would never let my children get off a healthy schedule. NOPE NOT ME. I did not take a video game back to Target and tell the cashier that Santa left it and forgot to leave a receipt. I would never cause unknown individuals to lie for me. NOPE NOT ME. I did not take my kids to grandparents for two days for me and husband to just "sit at home." I would never just enjoy doing nothing. NOPE NOT ME. I did not dream that Publix was closing and the lady at Publix said to me, "now you have to buy Wal-Mart meat." I would never wake up in a cold sweat from said dream. NOPE NOT ME. I did not cry at ESPN's college football highlights from this year. I would never cry over football. NOPE NOT ME.

The Annual Roach Year End Review

What a blessing this year has been for the Roach's. Here is my annual recap on my blog. In January we celebrated daughter turning 4. She has really turned into her own person this year. She is far more independent then her brother. She has clear likes and dislikes. She is all drama but is tougher then any boy her age. She fights like boy and cries like a girl.

In February, we got to take the kids to the circus and husband had a weekend away in Auburn. I also ran my second 5k race and blogged how I hoped to run the half marathon one day. I will get to run that half marathon this February. (Lord Willing!)

In March, we got snow again!! The kids loved the white stuff. And in the same month we went to the beach for Spring Break. I also bit the bullet and let son ride the school bus. How would I make it without the bus this year?

In April, we had Easter at my sister's house. We were in full swing of baseball and I promise their is nothing better then watching your son play ball. There was the women's retreat with Bre, slime night, and Pooh got tubes again.

In May, I took husband to a Kenny Chesney concert. We got to visit with Brian and Summer and Shane and Jaclyn. Daughter danced in her first dance recital and son had an awesome baseball year. We took the kids to Disney World on a trip I will never forget.

In June, I got to direct VBS again and we experienced the largest VBS to date. Daughter had tubes and then swam 3 days later. We lost Sandy our precious dog of 13 years. I feel like all we did was swim all summer. But I met so many new friends at the pool this summer and the running crew got me motivated seating on those pool chairs. (and I turned 32! shhh)

In July, we celebrated the fourth of July with friends. I went on a Roach vacation and learned a lot about myself driving 550 miles with no air and two kids by myself. Husband and I celebrated 8 years of marriage by ourselves at the beach. We were down to one dog, Yoda. He turned one in July and eased our hearts in the pet department.

In August, son went to first grade riding a bus from the get go. Son turned 7!!! I started getting my roomS ready. I started to prepare to working 4 days a week and daughter was preparing for 4k with a new teacher.

In September, the greatest thing happened, Auburn football started back!!!!! We were so excited to watch Auburn open up with five wins in a row. We know how ballgames went after that but it was fun while it lasted. Then we started some sick weeks. I mean if it was to be gotten, we got it.

In October, we took the kids to their first away game. We had a great time with our Tennessee family. Son stated back playing fall ball. It was so fun to start on the pitching machine and I can't wait until spring ball. We had a great Halloween with our closest friends.

In November, Karen and I escaped and went on a girl's trip. We welcomed Will into our world. We had a great Thanksgiving. Son has turned into a long haired, animal bracelet wearing boy who shot his first deer. The kids enjoyed a month off from ball but son would start basketball soon.

In December, we did the annual Christmas party mania followed by all the Brakefield birthdays. We celebrated Christmas with all our family. Thankful for each and every one of God's blessings in our life.

And on this first day of the new year, Auburn WINS!!! Auburn WINS!!!!
Happy New Year!!!
