It was a great Christmas. I get a little more emotional each Christmas thinking how fast the kids are growing. I looked over at son during the Christmas Eve service and saw him singing a Christmas carol and I started to cry...Bre looked at me and said "Stop right now! "The kids love to help open their presents!

Roach Christmas Part 2

Husband is mad he had no pictures in the Roach Christmas post...well. I did not like any of the pictures of me and him...so here he is all by himself with my hand on his shoulder. And here he is in the flower chair.

Christmas Programs, School Parties and Teary Moments

I missed my first Christmas party with son. Husband had to attend his school party because daughter's was at the same time. I did get to go with son after his party to the nursing home. He has always been sweet to the elderly and never scared. He hugged the patients and told them Merry Christmas. On this trip, he gave an elderly man one of his animal bracelets. I know some of you may think that is silly...but this kid loves his animal bracelets. And he gave one to someone else...someone he did not know...and no one told him to do it. That is what Christmas is all about.
My sweet, sweet, girl. All drama but at least she is cute!
I must say I am very teary eyed that this is her last year at preschool. This precious angel will be at big school next year. I just kept thinking while she was singing that this would be the last time she would do this...Thank you God for the moments. Thank you God for the memories. I have stayed home with these babies for 7 and half years. Hardest job of my life and would not trade it for all the riches in the world.

Twas Fire at the Nook

Twas the day of Round one of Christmas Programs, when all through the Nook...
All the creatures were stirring due to alarms and power outages and who brought their binder book.

Teachers with goodies, directors with walkie talkie's, and maintenance men with confused looks.
In hopes everything would be back to normal and a lysol spray would be all it took.

When at the start of carpool their arose such smoke,
Evacuate was the order and this was no joke!!!

When what did my wondering eyes should appear,
but 2 firetrucks and 3 power trucks were all here.

More rapid then eagles the firemen they came,
And after an hour they whistled and shouted and called us back in by name.

So into the lobby we and all kids flew,
With cold, hungry children and now their grandparents too.

The firemen and power guys spoke not a word but went straight to work,
And cleared all the rooms and then turned with a jerk.

They sprang to their trucks and gave their team a whistle,
And away they all drove like the down of a thistle.

But I heard them scream as they drove out of sight,
Merry Christmas Nook it is ALRIGHT!!!

Christmas Party Overload

Why I haven't been blogging...

Our Tacky Christmas Sweater party! These are some of the people in our Home Group. (like Sunday School but smaller and at your own home)

My work party. These are the 2 year old teachers. And we rock!

Bre and I at our spouse's work party. It was at the Comedy Club. Rule #1 Don't put non-social engineers on the front row at the comedy club.
S'more party with my favorite running peeps! It was 26 degrees that night.

We have had a blessed year. We are thankful for jobs, friends and families.
Speaking of families...those parties start tomorrow!!!

Santa Is Coming

Our neighborhood rocks. Swimming pool, playground, tennis courts (for Husband), marathon runners to inspire me and free pictures with Santa! As this time comes each year I am reminded how fast the time will fly with my children. I love seeing the excitement in their eyes and love the innocence of their hearts. But plain and simple Jesus is center of Christmas in our house. This season is about Christ and Santa has nothing to do with that. Every present that will be given and received comes from above whether it is delivered by UPS, Santa, grandparents or friends. I pray your Christmas is spent thanking God for the gift He gave us all.

Why Auburn?

The alarm went off at 4:20 am for me on Friday. The annual Black Friday sales. I must say the Christmas spirit is slow for me this year. I usually would tell you, I am done shopping at this point. I had other things on my mind this Black Friday...like IRON BOWL 2009. I rushed home to shower and we were on the road by 9. I thought for sure I would sleep on the way down but with two kids in the back seat that was not an option. It was a beautiful Auburn Day and we were pumped throughout most of the game...until the last 2 minutes. And then this face happened.
This picture kinda breaks my heart. And can you explain this to me? Why won't my child nap any other time then 4th quarter at an Auburn game?
But the biggest question is why Auburn? Why do I love Auburn? Why do I drag 2 kids to games in all temperatures to experience it? Why does my heart beat fast when I get off the interstate or in our case Hwy 14? Because of this...
The faithful that stay and sing "It's Great 2 B and Auburn Tiger." They sing it so loud that I never had to hear that Rammer Jammer song. Auburn does have a way of living inside you. It makes you cry when you see the Eagle fly or the team run on the field. Auburn is not about a Coach, a player or a place. It is about a family. And that is why Auburn lives in me.

A little turkey and a dead deer

Once upon a time the little Roach's went down south to visit the in-laws. There were cousins and soccer and puzzles and games. There was turkey and stuffing and food galore. Daughter ate some salad, grapes and 3 bites of turkey. Son ate a roll, some dumplings and of course cake. This year we spent the afternoon with 3 laptops showing each other YouTube videos. It is amazing what some laptops brought to our entertainment. Then I began looking at my sale papers for Black Friday. And I let go and allowed others to touch and even (gasp)hold my sale papers after promising not to harm them in any way. Some of the relatives take the afternoon to hunt or nap in tree stand. Son begs to go with them and this year we allowed. When darkness fell and leftovers began to be reheated and there was no return...I was a little worried. And then the text came. SON HAD KILLED HIS FIRST DEER.

He thinks he shot a BUCK. It was barely not spotted but did have a small spike. He got to keep the tail and the bullet. They did not wipe his face with blood worried he might be allergic! (Thank you lord for his allergies) Husband was so excited he got to go with the same two men who took him into the woods to shoot a deer. They went to the same shooting house to practice. They went to the same woods to hunt. History repeated itself on that day. To Uncle Micheal and Mr. Roy (and Wesley) thank you for making memories with son. Thank you for taking the time out of your holiday to make son's day.

What does your husband do?

I get asked all the time "what does your husband do?" I give my standard answer ...he designs HVAC systems for buildings. You see he is a mechanical engineer and basically that means I have no idea what he does all day. I do know that he spends a lot of the time while we are out looking up at the ceiling and he notices big things on top of buildings. He talks about coolers, chillers, diffusers, ducts and air handlers. I always do the standard "wow, really" when he discusses his work. I have not a clue what he is talking about. However, last week he had a meeting with a bunch of architects, more engineers and some more brainiac people on a federal job. He came home from the all day meeting with this on his belt...
Oh this made me laugh. You see somewhere in the midst of all those brains...someone had a sense of humor. Husband has no idea who put it there or when. I may not understand LEED certification but humor is something I know lots about.
