New Orleans Review

Husband and I had a short trip to New Orleans for his work. I was along for the ride. After shipping off Yoda (thanks Kristi), giving instructions for Macee and Sandy(thanks Karen), and dropping off kids (thanks Meme and Papa) we were on the rode. It was so much fun to be alone with my husband in the car for a long drive. We listened to a Rick and Bubba CD first and laughed until we cried. We never get a chance to talk and it was nice to have a conversation. Husband even chimmed in the conversation. I can't give you all the details of the trip but here is the review and the highlights.
Food: Not so great. I still like Sea and Suds gumbo the best. But the dining experience: Nothing compares. I mean look at our little cafe we ate lunch.

Atmosphere: Well it depends where you were standing and who was around. But at any moment I could fall in love with the city buildings, shops and music playing.

Working Out: I like to run at the beach but I don't get very far. It is hot and the sand makes it very difficult. At our hotel I was able to run and then do some strengthening exercises by the pool on the top off the building! ALONE. I can't tell how much I needed the ALONE part. But the best exercise was walking five miles holding husband's hand around town.

Celebrity Experience: I heard I missed a sermon today on being in love with celebrities. Hate I missed it but I was able to find the Jolie Pitt house. No sign of them. No sign of any paparazzi either. But I did touch their house and I did not go through their trash. WHICH WAS OUTSIDE. Notice the American Flag and the United Nations Flag.

Overall the trip made deposits into the love bank.

Nazi's, Mini Trip and Movie

Back to the food nazi's today. My thirty days was up and they were waiting. Down 4 lbs. Total weight loss - 23.6 lbs. They were not ugly today but I do have to fast the next two days. Talk about ugly. Don't call me on Wednesday. It won't be pretty.

However Thursday should bring some real joy. Husband and I are dropping off the kids in GVILLE and going to New Orleans for the weekend. Husband has a "job" down there and I am along for the ride. I will be on another job. I will be trying to scope out the Jolie-Pitts! From "the very credible source" the Jolie-Pitts are back in the big Easy. http://perezhilton.com/2008-10-06-the-chosen-ones-are-back-in-new-orleans

On a completely other note.
If you have not seen this movie, go see it. Husband and I went Sunday. Our church rented the movie theater and we really enjoyed the movie. It is a good date movie. I have not seen a movie like this in a long time. The message was clear. I can only imagine how many marriages or lives will be changed because of this movie. And Kirk Cameron. Oh, I still love him.

Fun Stuff

When it comes to fun, I have a long list of things I love to do. Starting with a list of things that include being outside. Husband would love to sit at home and do nothing. I would love to do anything but sit. I love to be busy. I don't mind if being busy means just being at home. I love to clean out closets, pantries, drawers and mostly toys at my house. So today when I got off work and walked outside, I knew I had to do something. The weather could not be any better. I called brother-in-law to make all my dreams come true. Brother-in-law was a little surprised by my request but he obliged. I wanted to borrow a pressure washer.
I can not tell you how much fun I had this afternoon. It started out kinda slow. I could not get it to start. I called brother-in-law and he just laughed. I think he thought I couldn't do it. I think he was thinking this was a man's job. Well I am not above yard work or hard work. I was determined. I got so mad at that pressure washer. I yanked and yanked. I cut my hand and bruised my leg with the pull cord. But it cranked and when it did pure bliss filled my whole body. It took me 2 hours to pressure wash my front porch, front steps, sidewalk and driveway. I will be pressure washing the siding, back porch and back yard sidewalk in the morning.
I really don't know what it says about me, but to watch that dirt, mold and algae disappear gives me utter satisfaction. I wish I owned a pressure washer. I could clean the whole neighborhood. Maybe this is what I can do for a living. I was singing and writing my name in cursive with the pressure washer. I kept turning around to see the job I had accomplished. When husband came home, I was finished and nasty. I was wet from head to toe. I had dirt, mold, and algae all over me. I am proud to say, I washed my hands and cooked supper and then took a nice long shower. I am so excited to get the job finished in the morning.

WIGGLE, WIGGLE

I love Auburn. I am so jealous of my birthday twin getting to live there all the time! I mean where else can you meet people and get your picture made with them.

Knoxville Family came to town. Even though they brought all this orange stuff that was a weird color, and they put a flag on our car, we still managed to have a good time with them.

Husband's cousin, me and sister-in-law before the game enjoying Mikey Fresh's parking spot close to the stadium. I still can't believe I was hugging the enemy.

Another benefit from MIKEY Fresh, scholarship seats. How happy was husband about this photo? Not so much.

Not so happy things about the day: #1 Tony Franklin. We could see him, we could yell at him and he just can't seem to call the right plays. Doesn't he know he should listen to me?

#2 Reporter, "So Tubs, how bad did it stink this week?" I think Tubs was a little under the weather. He was dressed for 50 degrees.

Favorite Moment: Pat Dye in person. Does it get any better? The sight of him makes me cry. I wish he was my foster grandaddy.

People Passing Through

I have had many friends in my life. Some friendships end while some are just beginning. I have had times of my life that have been full of friends. I have even been through periods of my life with little to no friends. But the older I get, the more I realize what true friendships are based on. Not on competition, not on jealousy, not on lies or materialism. My truest friends are the ones I can be real to. The friends that laugh with me but will cry with me to. This week when something awful happened to my daughter, I had friends almost cry with me. I have friends who take care of me and my family when I can not. I have friends who will call me out when I need to grow up. I have friends who will just love me for where I am and not for where they want me to be. I am blessed.
But we all have had friends that have moved away or maybe just moved on. My dearest, Jaclyn, is moving. We had a not goodbye lunch today. No tears. Just excitement for her as her husband has answered the call into the ministry full time. They are leaving their dream house they built near family to trust and follow. WOW. Could I trust as much? I have watched Jaclyn grow so much since I first met her. She would never admit any of this to anyone but deep inside she is STRONG and already possesses the strength she needs. She is the only person I know who is as beautiful on the outside as well as the inside. She is the friend that may not call you on the phone but will leave you a present on your doorstep or a card in the mail. She is a wonderful mommy but never gives herself credit for anything. I am better for knowing her.
So tonight I am thankful for those friends that are just passing through this thing called life.

Mid life crisis has begun

I have been trying to go through a midlife crisis for sometime.
Causes:
1. Son started big school
2. Doctor said NO MORE BABIES
3. Doctor then burnt the uterus.
4. My job stinks, stinks, stinks
5. I went to college and got a degree, where is it that thing?
6. Who am I with no kids in diapers or bottles?
7. Social worker license = expired
Effects:
1. Who am I?
2. What is my purpose?
3. My job was suppose to help my husband and provide some cushion to the budget. Not so much cushion. My job used to pay for groceries. Not anymore. It doesn't even pay my gas for the week.
4. How do you reenter a work force and still have child care?
5. What does God want me to do with my life?
6. Should I go back to school?
7. Are there part time employment opportunities that will work with my childcare already in place?
These are just some of the questions, I am asking myself tonight.
Other deeper questions are:
What will they say about my life when I die?
Who did I serve?
Who did I win for Christ?
What work did I do for Him?
I have struggled with this my whole life. I always needed a job with a purpose tied to God. I went into social work for goodness sake. I always worked for non-profit organizations. God uses wounded healers and that is me. I know the right job is out there for me and God knows where it is. Pray for me, as I open my eyes, ears and heart to find the right job for me and the job that comes with a purpose.
